Opera Residency

 

    SOUTHAMPTON SCHOOL DISTRICT

    "What are you doing in school this week?"

    "My children came home singing!"

 

From February 24-27, opera resounded in the halls of the Southampton School District. We spent four days introducing students to new ideas about music. They learned that opera is not foreign to us, but a part of every day experiences...television, cartoons, movies and commercials. The students listened to singers in each of the voice categories. Opera of the Hamptons international artists, Rosa D'Imperio, Alexandra Zalska, Michael Scott Harris and Richard Hobson with Phyllis Falleta-Olsen, Music Director and Barbara Giancola, Artistic Di rector, presented a stimulating experience for the students, piquing their curiosity. To Dr. Bruno, Superintendent, Dr. DiVincenzi, Ass't. Superintendent, and the Music Department, Ms. Susan Rumph, Ms.Ericka LoCurto, Mr. James Tartaglia, for their vision, and especially, to the students of the Southampton School District, our thanks for their contributions for the success of this innovative program.             BRAVO!!
